Silverfish on Alabama Hill: the real problem was water
Heads up: these job stories may include photos of real pests and wildlife. Not for sensitive viewers.

We got a call about silverfish on Alabama Hill in Bellingham. Silverfish are usually a symptom, not the real problem. They love damp places, so when you see a lot of them, it's worth asking where the water is coming from.
That's exactly what we found here. A flood had happened years ago, and the structure never completely dried out. Water was still moving through the concrete into the garage, and you can see the signs: the white, chalky staining along the bottom of the wall where moisture has been wicking up.
We could have sprayed and called it done, but the silverfish would have come right back as long as the water stayed. Instead, our sister company, Carpet Care Cleaners, came in and dried the structure out properly. That took care of the real issue and solved the problem for good, instead of a pesticide quick fix.
If you're seeing silverfish, look for moisture too: old leaks, damp concrete, a musty garage or basement. Dry it out and the bugs lose their reason to stay.
